Our story

From camp kitchens to Circular Quay

The Moreton family fed shearers and station hands for a decade before the lease on 100 George Street came up. They took the recipes, the coals and the attitude — and left the swags behind.

1988

The camp kitchen years

Marg and Bill Moreton run catering across the Riverina — damper, stew and whatever the day's muster deserved.

1998

George Street opens

A 40-seat grill house in an 1880s warehouse. First Friday sells out. It still does.

2007

The gaming licence

Nine years of paperwork ends with 30 machines and four tables upstairs. The boutique casino is born.

2015

The Hall is built

The rear stables become a 200-seat event space — conferences by day, weddings by night.

2022

Native pantry menu

Chef Della Moreton — third generation — rebuilds the menu around indigenous ingredients. Awards follow.

2026

Today

180 seats, 62 machines, six event spaces — and Bill still does the Friday door shift.

What we believe

Three rules, painted on the kitchen wall

RULE 01

Feed people properly

Real portions, real ingredients, real coals. A counter meal should still be worth the trip.

RULE 02

Everyone's a local

First visit or fiftieth — same welcome, same pour, same table if we can manage it.

RULE 03

Play it straight

Honest prices, honest odds, honest answers. The gaming floor runs clean or not at all.

The Heritage Restoration

Two years restoring the 1880s sandstone and original timber trusses — the building finally looks like it deserves to.

Native Pantry Project

Direct supply from Indigenous growers — quandong, wattleseed, saltbush. Now 60% of the menu.

Tucka Foundation

$40k+ a year to Riverina rural youth programs — where the family started, we still give back.
